Practice Wellness Personal (PWP), the new Employee Assistance Program, is now live for all NCMS Plan members. The NCMS Plan has partnered with LifeWorks to deliver best-in-class counseling, digital content and perks to support members' emotional, mental, physical and financial well-being. We've made it easy for you to communicate this new benefit to your employees with a host of marketing materials and an email template. Encourage employees to sign up today for this highly valued well-being benefit. On the Move Challenge

The NCMS Plan is excited to once again bring you exclusive access to the On the Move Challenge at a deeply discounted price. On the Move is not just another weight loss challenge. The program is an online, whole person wellness platform that helps organizations move physically, relationally, spiritually, and emotionally. The 12-week online challenge kicks off in April with the goal of getting employees moving because they want to, not because they have to. Allow your employees the opportunity to recognize and appreciate the intrinsic value of healthy behaviors.

Finding Purpose in your Worksite Wellness Program

Are you looking for new ways to expand your wellness program and make a bigger impact? Ways to make a difference in the community in which you and your employees live, work, and play? Worksite wellness efforts have the potential of being minimized when other areas of an employee’s life, such as the surrounding community, present barriers to good health. Your wellness program and the overall practice culture have the potential to reduce those external barriers by expanding your wellness initiatives outside of the practice walls.


CEENTAcares, CEENTA’s charity arm, raised $30,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association at their annual charity golf tournament in October 2016. Each year, CEENTA raises money for a different charity, chosen by staff from a list everyone contributes to.


You can encourage and support healthy community engagement among employees in the following ways:
  • Participate as a group in community health and wellness activities (i.e. enter a team of employees into a 5k for charity or help build community gardens).

  • Support & utilize local community resources (i.e. coordinate a group trip to the local farmer’s market)

  • Provide work hours for participation in community health efforts

For well-being to flourish, individuals, practices, and communities need to collaborate in making good health a shared value. Creating a culture of health involves prioritizing and promoting well-being, participating in civic engagement, and fostering a strong sense of community.

Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less 2



Have you or your employees participated in the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less (ESMMWL) program? If you completed ESMMWL (by attending at least 10 out of 15 classes), you are invited to participate in Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less 2. Continue your personal journey towards better health with the NEW 24-week weight maintenance program which complements and furthers the weight management efforts and results achieved in ESMMWL. The educational strategies and delivery methods of the program are consistent, but there are new topics to anticipate in the bi-weekly ESMMWL 2 classes.

Some of the new topics include navigating the diet maze, cooking smart, manage the holidays, and much more! ESMMWL 2 will launch its first series the week of March 20th. Stay tuned for open registration beginning February 20th. NCMS Plan members pay only $30 at the time of registration (a $235 value), which is 100% refunded upon completion of the program for meeting tracking requirements.

Are Americans walking more today than they were this time last year?
Back in September 2015, the Surgeon General proclaimed a national call to action to promote walking as a strategy for combatting the obesity epidemic. Why walking? The NC Division of Public Health provides comprehensive walking guides for a variety of counties in the state, where they highlight safe and convenient paths for 10-45 minute movement breaks throughout your day.

Study shows even a single daily cigarette can raise your odds for an early death
A study completed by the Center for Tobacco Control proves there is simply no safe level of smoking. Study participants who smoked, but averaged less than one cigarette a day, were still found to have a 64 percent higher risk of premature death than a non-smoker. But there is some good news—it’s never too early or too late to quit smoking. A person’s risk of early death by coronary heart disease, heart attack, or stroke decreases greatly just within the first year of quitting.
